The Hilarious Crying About Ted Cruz

The thing we know about the people bitching about Ted Cruz right now is that if he becomes the nominee, they’ll fall all over themselves to get in line. They always do.

When Republicans wanted to raise spending, these people went along with the GOP.

When Republicans wanted to fund Obamacare, these people went along with the GOP.

When Republicans wanted to surrender fighting Obama and let the courts handle it, these people went along with the GOP.

When Republican leaders threw Ted Cruz under the bus, there these people were spitting on him.

When Republican leaders have enacted any policy that props up big government, here came this crowd to tell us it was conservative.

The people bitching about Ted Cruz saying nice things about Donald Trump are the very people who have helped the GOP lose definition as a party. Now they want to tell us all what is and who is and what is not and who is not conservative.

They’re the ones who lost the moral high ground on this when “big government conservative” was still a conservative and Republican and conservative were synonyms.

Donald Trump’s record shows he is not a conservative, but I couldn’t care less than Cruz is playing a strategy of not going to war with Trump. If Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio or Mitch McConnell or anyone else was doing it, these people would be falling all over themselves to defend it.

At this exact moment, some of them are whining that these other candidates would never do that. And right now Ted Cruz is starting to pull ahead. These guys accuse conservatives of purity for profit, while profiting from the existing system and daring to demand the moral high ground except when it serves them to do otherwise. Cruz, right now, is beating them at their own game. It may not work, but right now it is.

They kept their mouths shut when the NRSC backed squishy liberals against conservatives. They kept their mouths shut when Republicans busted through spending caps and handed Barack Obama blank checks to raise the debt ceiling. Every strategy Republicans in Washington tried was always, in their minds, conservative and Republican.

I am a formerly elected Republican. I can’t tell you what the hell the party stands for any more. For these people to suddenly decide they know is really, really damn rich.

I helped Marco Rubio when these same people were backing Charlie Crist. I helped Ted Cruz when these same people were helping David Dewhurst. I will help either man get elected. They are both awesome.

Should Ted Cruz become the nominee, it will be funny watching them all get in line behind him.

Should Marco Rubio become the nominee, it will be funny watching them pretend it was foreordained.

The incessant whining is more panic than anger. The people freaking out hate that the very play book they pioneered is being used against them.
