The Hill’s Peter Sullivan Quotes Michele Bachmann Quoting Jesus. Doesn’t Seem to Know It.

Over at The Hill, reporter Peter Sullivan brings us a report on Michele Bachmann announcing that “Jesus is coming soon.” The audio is brought to us courtesy of a leftwing site called “Right Wing Watch.”

The article breathlessly begins

Former Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) calls in an interview for converting as many people as possible to Christianity because Jesus is “coming soon.”

I don’t know if Sullivan is a Christian or not, but I’m guessing not. Most every Christian who has spent time in the Bible knows this quote. It is the standard call for the Great Commission. At the end of Revelation, Jesus says it too.

“And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” — Rev. 22:7

But wait . . . He says it again too.

Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” — Rev. 22:12-13

But wait . . . He says it a third time.

“Surely I am coming soon.” — Rev. 22:20

which is followed by the Apostle John writing, “Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!”

Likewise, the Apostles Peter and Paul continued the theme of constant vigilance because the “Day of the Lord” is at hand.

Peter Sullivan is taking common Christian phraseology and trying to paint Michele Bachmann as a nutter. If he thinks that, he should just be open that all Christians are as all Christians believe “Jesus is coming soon” because He told us Himself.

To quote the Lords’ brother Jude,

But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.” It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.
