9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.
What is truth? Is truth a fact? Is it relative? Christ is the truth and he is an absolute. He existed before time itself existed. But Christ is not just true and truth. He is “the true light.” He illuminates what is true. He shows us. By indwelling within us he tugs at us and pushes or pulls, as the case may be, till we arrive at the truth.
Christ stands as the true and pure beacon of light. With so many distractions, look to that true light. Christ provides guidance on what is pure and holy and good. The world wants to tell you what is good, but the world does not know Christ so the world cannot really know good.
Christ is the authentic benchmark for truth and righteousness and good. There is no need to ask what Christ would do because we know. He’d suffer, be nailed to a cross, die, and conquer death. Look to Christ and see him through all the distractions of the world and he will guide you, carry you, and sustain you.
