Architecture As Crap

A

I find modern architecture sterile and pretentious. The “houses” Brad Pitt built in New Orleans readily come to mind. They are out of character for the city, expensive, and already molding and falling apart. The architects wanted to build something for themselves, but wanted the poor to live in the buildings.

This is a must read piece on architects finally waking up that they’ve been building ugly, inaccessible, and uncomfortable stuff.

It is worth noting that the loudest critic to this recognition was part of foisting crap, ugly housing on the poor in New Orleans.
