(Don’t) Praise Jesus

The Bible class curriculum is set. And by set, I mean not set. And by curriculum, I mean textbook selection. And by text book selection, I mean NIV, KJV, NRSV, Oxford, RSV, ASV, Living, Message, you decide.

Just don’t be praising Jesus. Talk literature (note to students: Song of Solomon for the steamy novel portion). Talk history. Heck, the ACLU and Episcopalians will probably even let you talk mythology. Just don’t talk too much about theology, salvation, or the other tenets of the Bible unless you’re just studying the “themes” of Romans.

  • 2 Timothy 3
1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

    4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was.

10But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

  • The signs of the end times are all around for those with eyes to see. We just returned from the Bahamas, and I saw three people carrying signs in Nassau that read “Repent Jesus is coming soon.” Many walked on past these people, and a couple of them were sitting on benches reading their Bibles. Jesus will not wait much longer to redeem his people.

  • This agnostic and atheistic bs that the communist want to infiltrate our public schools with is doing nothing but destroying our Country. You go on and say it is ok to destroy Christ and toss him about like something that deserves to be debated and you will be rotting in hell. How can someone say that they were raised Catholic even stoop down in the gutter with the slime balls of our society? I invite you to my God, and it is not a religion at all as it is the only truth that you and I need to know. You had better get your soul right with him because he has greater wrath on those that would ever wish to do a child harm. And yes, when Jesus commanded that anyone that would harm a child will face wrath he meant it!

You have heard the truth and you will be one that will not be judged kindly because you mock the truth and want to put your philosophical spin on it. This is the United States and if I and other Christians want what we believe in the schools, then it is time for the Christians to pick up their swords and follow Christ! The time for allowing all of the agnostics and atheists to trample on our rights has been long enough. If you don’t like Jesus and don’t want to spread the Gospel, move to an atheistic country!

  • Our founders did not have to say that Jesus was not the one true God because it was a given when our Country was first founded. It was the traitors to the Constitution that allowed people that think like you to come onto our shores. The founders of our Country are rolling over in their graves for the betrayal that politicians did to this once great land. Diversity away from Christ is what is ruining all that those that gave their blood in the American Revolution. Trust me FAP, my ancestors did not die for you to tell me to keep my Jesus Christ at home!

  • Linda the point is that your personal Savior doesn’t belongs in schools as more than my Flying Spaghetti Monster does.

If you want to look at religion as it impacted history in a history class, fine. If you want to look at religion as it impacted literature, fine. If you want to look at religion as it impacted science also fine. But in a public school saying that your Jesus is the savior of humanity without putting it in a balanced context is out of line.

Don’t put your faith in the public square unless your are willing to let all members of the public comment on it. That includes those who may want to ridicule it, point out contradictions, or explore plot holes in your sacred texts. Keep your religion in your heart, in your home, and at your place of worship. Feel free to let it inform your moral code and daily actions. And if you want to expose others to your religion politely invite them to share in it.

Our nation doesn’t call upon its citizens to accept any or all religions only to tolerate them, sometimes through clenched teeth. Anyone who thrusts their religion into the public square is a poor citizen, a poor neighbor, and invites conflict.

  • I know you said that you are a Catholic but kind of agnostic, FAP. But you need to really pray about what your belief is, and not joke about getting religion in school. School children do not need to receive this crap in school at all, if no one can write a stable curriculum to follow based upon the Holy Bible. I would hate to see the same people that are failing at teaching math and english to be teaching religion. That is why my child goes to private school.

  • Fap, why don’t you go back to writing to your narrow minded individuals on nogodblog.com. Please do not use the term flying spaghetti monster about the Lord Jesus Christ on this blog! We are Christians, and we are not atheists like you.

  • I don’t see why this is such a big deal religion should be taught in school.

As soon as everyone comes to the obvious conclusion that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the one True God and all the others are fakes and delusions perhaps we can finally get Him back in the class room where He belongs.

May the blessings of Flying Spaghetti Monster be upon you and your family.
