The UN

Michael Barone poses a good rhetorical question this morning.

Of what use is the United Nations? Sometimes, it seems the answer is: none at all.

The UN has squandered all good will and serves no one but itself now. It has exceeded its usefulness and, with the demise of the cold war, is no longer relevant.

There are other Intergovernmental Organizations (“IGOs”) that can function in place of the UN, from the WTO to the various regional treaty organizations. It’s time to defund the UN.
